A Pokeballing Preview: The Provincial Championships

So now that Next Destinies pre-releases are over and the set hits stores Feb 8th (i think) its time to shift focus on to Provincials and beyond.

Provincials is the next stop on the Pokemon tourney scene and will infact provide the biggest challenge to Pokemon players to date. While Battle Roads and Cities bring good players, Provincials takes that and expands upon by having all of the best pl;ayers in the province gather in one place. This is where you can really see how the format is gonna shape up. This will also ne the debut of the brand new Pokemon EX in the format bringing with them exciting new decks and combinations to givce you the edge in matches.

Cards like Reshiram EX and Zekrom EX may replace thier non EX versions in decks like Reshiboar, Reshipholsion, Eelzone, and ZPST. Chandelure decks can now run a hard hitting attacker in Mewtwo EX after placing thier burn damage. Kyurem can see a better fit in decks like 6 corners,CaKE and KyuremGATR.
This will also be the preview for Regionals and possibly Nationals pending on new sets being released before then.

The questions becomes now what to play, and will what we ran at Cities still be good at Provincials. Right now in the meta we have about 6-7 top tier decks, those being.
Eelzone
ZPST
Durant
CaKE
Chandelure/Vileplume
Reshipholsion
6 Corners

Mewtwo EX will be in this format now and the hype its receiving when paired up with Celebii cannot be ignored the deck is fast and sets up Mewtwo for heavy Damage with X-Ball and Powers up other attackers like Tornadus and Regigigas EX. Gothitelle is also a threat to watchout for when paired up with Next Destinies Gardevoir as a one way trainer lock combined with Gardevoirs Ability will make the hard hitting Gothitelle a force to match off against the potentially dominate Mewtwo EX. VvV gets some consistency in the form of another Vanniluxe this one packing a warp point style ability when combined with dodrio for free retreat will allow to you hit whatever you want to further keep your opponent from setting up and keep major threats from revenge KOing your attacking Vanniluxe.

The format is about to shift again in a format that has already had many surprises thus far. With the first major tournament of the Pokemon Season about to begin in about 47 days the time to test and make changes and prepare ourselves is upon us.
